Summer in the Midwest

Today is classic July in Northwest Ohio.

Here are a few things that typically come to mind when thinking of Northwest Ohio in July.

*Humidity
* Local Ice Cream stands with long lines
* Swimming pools both public and private loaded with little kids playing and having a great time.
* Corn on the Cob
* Kids riding bikes up and down the street
* Baseball games
* Mosquitos.... lots of them....
* Thunderstorms
* Ice Cream Socials for the Protestant Churches
* Three Day Church Festivals for the Catholics
* An ice cold beer on a hot day after cutting the grass
* Little kids chasing lightening bugs and putting them in jars to create a homemade latern
* Push Ups -- You know... the orange sherbert in a cardboard tube that you push up from the bottom
* Broiling car interiors that take your breath away when you first get in after having the windows closed and parking in the sun.
* A walk through the zebra mussels on the beaches of Lake Erie
* Admiring the golden color of soon to be harvested wheat
*Wading in the Maumee at Grand Rapids fishing the holes with a box of nightcrawlers in your pocket and catching catfish and whatever else happens to bite.

It won't be long before the days will grow shorter and the nights grow cooler, and the thought of going back to school will enter everyone's minds.

Does July make you long for January?

Peace

I posted a comment already but it seems it didn't work. Not sure. Anyway, the original post was about how I prefer NW Ohio's summers to summers in the South, where I'm originally from. Hope your summer is going great!
