March and the Beginning of Tournament Time

It is that time of year.....  once again.....  High School basketball action cranked it up this past week.  I took in the division II games at Lake.  Game one was sort of a ho-hummer with Central getting Scott.  Neither team played all that well and well... oh well...    Game two was Bulldogs v. Polar Bears.... A fast paced high scoring, turnover infested event that the Polar Bears pulled out, 78-71.  I don't think the Bulldogs have won a tournament game now in the past four years.....   Not good..... and this particular year, the draw/bracket was particularly favorable. None the less, the season is over.

The season is also over for the Defiance Bulldogs who lost in OT to Wapakoneta 44-42. While the result is not a huge surprise, the margin certainly was.  Defiance had lost to the Redskins 52-45 the regular season. It is a sad day for Mike Menendez the starting point guard for Defiance. He is a true competitor and I have not seen a player compete like that kid in quite sometime. He will not be easily replaced.

#2 went to Fostoria to take in the Division 1 games.  It sounded like the games were entertaining.  He has just returned from his work assignment in Mississippi.  He seems pretty upbeat and genuinely jacked up about the tournament.

March.....  has arrived.... and as a lion.  The storm that passed through here on Wednesday was pretty intense.  Serious lightening, hail, wind.... and well... the cold front that created the excitement was a bit of a shocker dropping the temperatures into the low twenties. The wind has been an issue.... wind chills down into the single digits.   Normally this sort of weather would not be that big of a deal, but... February was a freakish warm one.... and well.... we really hadn't seen these sorts of temperatures we are getting right now since... well.. maybe the week or two before Christmas, back in December.

Suzanne has gone off to Sherwood to attend the showing and funeral of one of her best friends from growing up days. She is supposed to be coming back early today, but... given that she is on spring break this coming week, I don't expect to see her so early.   It is the second weekend though that I have spent time away from her..... and.... well....  it is quiet.

Let's keep in touch.... The Island seems like a good place for me more often this spring.
