An Unbelievable Change....
Massive change has occurred in my life. I have returned to coaching boys basketball. Now mind you it is freshmen boys.... but.... it is frankly unbelievable that I accepted to totally unexpected offer. The previous holder of the job made some major errors. Our assistant principal and the head coach sort of cornered me in my room and asked. I accepted. What it will mean for me both physically and mentally is a yet to be seen type of event.
We have had three games.... two wins and one loss. The first game was a one point win that in fact was a major surprise as the only time we led was at the end of the game. Game two we were obliterated by 30+..... Just Christians being fed to the lions..... Game 3 was our group being the lions and feeding on the Christians as we won by 35.
The guys I get to work with seem like pretty typical freshmen. Not particularly talented nor disciplined, but.... after a half a dozen practices, I have been fundamentally pleased. But we have a ton of work to do on ball handling, passing and catching.... and most importantly learning to play together with passion....... Our single greatest obstacle. Another significant problem will be having only nine players when everyone is present. It could grow worse as the rumor mill says that one of the post men is about to become an academic casualty. Having less than ten players makes it impossible to replicate game conditions with at least five on five.
My single greatest concern has been and definitely is my physical ability to conduct my job. We shall see.

Went to lunch today with the Smith sisters back in Bryan. It was a low key event. The travel was interesting as there was a decent amount snow to the west. The drifting on 127 was significant. US 24 was clean as a whistle....

Tomorrow is the last day of 2017. It has been an unusual year to say the least. I hope to stop through and review what all has happened over the course of the year. Monday will be the annual edition of prediction reviews and predictions for 2018.
